The Studio is a fine arts program for visionary artists where adults with various abilities and disabilities can come to express themselves artistically.

Fostering creative artists in Humboldt County since 1997, The Studio is designed to facilitate authentic art practices in the studio and in our gallery. We provide a supportive and stimulating environment where our artists can express themselves using a variety of media.

<>Our goals are to help each person reach their highest level of artistic achievement and to encourage personal growth, self-reliance and self-esteem through the creative process. The art made at The Studio is never censored or criticized, and freedom of ideas, techniques and mediums is strongly encouraged.

The freedom at the Studio is what makes the work created here inspiring, compelling and authentic.

Hands On Video is an ongoing project headed by Studio teacher Benjamin Johnson. The artists are a part of the entire movie making process from brainstorming, to acting, to set making and even editing.

Their videos can be viewed on the MisterStudio13 YouTube channel.

In the Still Life Mediums class artists are encouraged to explore a multitude of media from classic materials such as acrylic and watercolor to alternative materials such as collage.

This class is taught to engage the artists in something new while honing their observation and rendering skills.

CANVAS + CLAY provides an inclusive studio environment and gallery for artists for varying abilities to foster an authentic art practice and professional growth.

Our gallery, CANVAS + CLAY, is located in the heart of Old Town Eureka in the Historic Carson Block Building. We aim to use this space as a bridge for our artists and other professional artists to come together in celebration of art. Workshops and communities events will be coming soon to this space!
