HCAR Respite Services
Everyone one needs a break from time to time, but finding someone who is qualified to take care of their loved one can be difficult. HCAR's Respite Services can make a difference.
To provide temporary relief for families while caring for their loved ones.
To work together in building a strong community that promotes equal opportunities for all persons.
That all persons should have full access to the community in which they live. That each person has the right to make decisions based on personal choice. That each person has the right to a safe, secure environment.

Types of Services currently offered:
Respite (In-Home Support)
Respite Plus (Program Support)
Skills Acquisition (Program Support)
Provides services for individuals ages 3 years through adulthood in their home or in the community.
Respite Plus &
Provides Positive Behavior Support for individuals needing support in their home or in the community.
Provides assistance with activities of daily living to individuals who cannot perform these tasks by themselves.
On Call/Short Term:
Provides caregiver duties and End-of-Life Support.
Who provides respite?
Respite care providers are specially screened and trained to work in Respite Services.
Respite Worker Requirements:
*CPR & First Aid Certifications
*Ongoing training through College of Direct Support
*Professional Assault Response Training (Pro-ACT)
*Behavior Analysis Skills Introductory Course Training (BASIC)
Location, Days & Hours of Service:
HCAR Respite Services provides respite throughout Humboldt County up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (depending on the needs of the family, and the availability of the respite workers).
*Families using HCAR's services may call the office between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
*Respite Services are not to be provided until: a Purchase of Services for the consumer has been received and all necessary paperwork has been completed.
