SUPPORT WORKER


Part-time, flexible hours (possibility of full-time)


Support workers provide monitoring, support, and encouragement to consumers with disabilities living in their own home or ready to transition to their own home.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES: Implements objectives of consumersМ Individual Support Plans and maintains daily support notes; provides emotional support, nutrition awareness, house finding, and money management training. Communicates with program director, case managers, and other agencies as appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED with a minimum of six months related experience with individuals with disabilities. College level course work in the field of social welfare, sociology, psychology, education, or social services is desirable. Also requires knowledge of community resources. Ability to prioritize job responsibilities and relate to individuals with disabilities. Reliable transportation is also required.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS: CPR and first aid certification, TB clearance and, fingerprint clearance.

 

RATE OF PAY: Starts at $10.75 per hour, plus benefits for full-time.

LIFE SKILLS COACH

 

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week


JOB SUMMARY: A Life Skills Coach provides functional social and behavioral skills training to adults with developmental disabilities. Following comprehensive individual client service plans, you will coach people on appropriate ways to handle everyday situations from basic communication skills to making personal choices to using community services such as public transit. Most training activities take place in the community on a daily basis Monday through Friday. Focusing on teaching people to do for themselves rather than having things done for them, you will provide interactive opportunities in Independent Living Skills, Community Resource Skills, Vocational and Leisure Skills.


QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of six months experience working with individuals with developmental/behavioral disabilities. College course work in a related field (such as psychology, child development, or education) may be partial substitute for experience. Behavior management background preferred. Specialized training provided.


RATE OF PAY: Starts at $10.50 per hour plus benefits.

JOB COACH


On-call Temporary (possibility of Regular Full-time)


SUMMARY: The Job Coach works with individuals with disabilities (developmental, mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, sensory impairments, mobility impairments, and other disabilities) who are employed in community integrated employment or self-employment to assist them in their job preparation, successful training, and job retention.


TYPICAL DUTIES: Performs job site and task analysis for each job site; assesses consumerМs functional skills and limitations to improve positive vocational outcomes; assists consumers with understanding job tasks; teaches appropriate work behaviors; maintains all on-the-job and some off-site records and prepares monthly progress evaluations to monitor progress and billing appropriate funding sources. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or equivalent. College level course work in social welfare, special education, psychology, rehabilitation or other related field and a minimum of six months related experience working with individuals with disabilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Job Coach must have the ability to prioritize job responsibilities and relate to individuals with disabilities; ability to maintain positive working relationships with consumers and their significant others, HCAR staff, job site employers and employees, job site customers, and other agencies and community members.

RESPITE WORKER


On-call, Flexible Hours


JOB SUMMARY: Respite workers serve as temporary companions and care givers to frail elders and individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities while their parents or care providers are absent. (Behavioral Respite positions also available.)


Respite workers assure that all basic life needs of the person in their care are met. They provide personal assistance related to feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene. Respite workers also assist, as needed, with special devices such as wheelchair, walker, prosthesis or brace, and lift or transfer consumers as needed. In addition, respite workers perform minor household chores as related to the direct care of the consumer, such as cooking and dish washing.


QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and completion of a certified respite training course. One year related experience and/or training with individuals with developmental disabilities may substitute for a certified respite training course. Must have ability to lift and transfer people. Must also be 18 years of age.


RATE OF PAY: $10.75 per hour.


BENEFITS: Five days of paid vacation per year. Earned vacation is pro-rated based on the number of hours actually worked.

BEHAVIORAL RESPITE WORKER


On-call, Flexible Hours


JOB SUMMARY: Serves as a temporary companion to individuals with developmental disabilities who also have identified behavioral issues that require individual plans specific to those issues. Works in the home of the individual while their parents or care providers are absent or in other community settings when approved and arranged by the individual's family. Behavioral respite workers are responsible for assuring that basic needs such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and toileting are met. In addition, they are responsible for implementing existing behavior support plans, recording data necessary for the monitoring of those plans, and reporting any problems noted.


QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and a minimum of six months related experience and/or training with individuals with developmental disabilities. Required to complete ProAct (Professional Assault Crisis Training) certification and HCARМs annual respite care training course. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record are also required.


RATE OF PAY: $10.71-$12.40 per hour.


BENEFITS: Five days of paid vacation per year. Earned vacation is pro-rated based on the number of hours actually worked.
